Founder of independent carpet business retires after 64 years

Independent carpet business Bristol Carpets has announced the retirement of founder and director David Gibbs.

The business, which has been established since 1960 and is based on Chapel Lane in Fishponds, is hold a special ‘retirement sale’ to mark the occasion.

David Gibbs, who is 85 years old, has run the business for 64 years and is now handing over the company to his son John, daughter Debra, and grandson Jake – who are all currently involved in the business.

Commenting on the retirement, the company said: “The Bristol Carpets Retirement Sale is now on! All stock is reduced by up to 50% in our showroom.

“All thanks to our glorious leader and founder, David Gibbs, who is retiring after 64 at Bristol Carpets.”
