Flash floods destroy independent carpet business

Independent carpet and flooring business LS Flooring has suffered a devastating flood.

Based in Old Yarn Mills, Sherborne, Dorset, the business, which has been running for more than 25 years, was a victim of the recent flash floods in the area.

Owner, Lee Steele, said that the floods have “ruined” the business and that its showroom has also been impacted, while experiencing difficulties with its insurance providers.

In a statement, he said: “Well what can I say. A business a started over 20 years ago ruined in an afternoon. The flood’s which hit the Old Yarn Mills yesterday (28 October) have destroyed my business with thousands of pounds stock and tools gone.

“Our showroom at the top of town was also hit with floods. Insurance will not pay out. A massive thanks to all that showed up to help. Hannah and myself are gutted to say the least.”

It is understood the business is facing more than £30,000 in damages to repair and replace what has been destroyed by the flood, adding that its future is “very unclear”.
