Fitted furniture manufacturer grows sales; expects future growth

Kitchens, bedrooms and home study fitted furniture manufacturer Roundel has reported a growth in sales as turnover climbed towards £30m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 January 2022, total sales rose 32.8% to £27.4m from £20.6m in 2021. Pre-tax profit resulted at £6,700, significantly improving from a loss of £226,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “Following a year disrupted directly lockdowns associated with Covid, turnover returned to levels of previous years, plus growth. Whilst the business was not impacted by lockdowns during this year, the industry was badly affected by supply challenges as a result of lockdowns followed by strong demand.

“Roundel worked tirelessly with is suppliers to mitigate these and in the main, supply issues relating to furniture materials were mitigated, but appliances shortages impacted the business severely financially. The company invested significantly in its remedial and shortage recovery services to combat these issues and avoid them from negatively impacting its customers build programmes.”

Roundel added that it has an “exceptionally strong order book” and expects similar growth of +30% forecasted in the year ahead.
