Family furnishings business to relocate Newark store

Family furnishings business Curtain and Blind Design Ltd has announced plans to move into a larger premises in Newark.

The business, which has been established for 30 years, will relocate from its current site on Carter Gate to its new location on London Road Carpark.

Curtain and Blind Design has been based at its former store for the past 13 years but decided the time was right to move to allow it to expand the business further.

The company will be taking over a former sewing shop, Crafty Betty, and will redesign the space to create a new showroom, displaying motorised blinds and tracks, as well as a conservatory blinds section.

Curtain and Blind Design, which specialises in bespoke curtains and blinds, manufacturing and fitting, wallpaper, soft furnishings and designer fabrics including Harlequin, Prestigious Textiles, Ashley Wilde and Iliv, operates out of three stores, with the other two based in North Allerton and Harrogate.

The new store will officially open on 30 August 2022.

Commenting on the move, the company said: “After over a decade on Carter Gate we are now joining our Manufacturing Team at Unit 2 London Road Carpark and collaborating to make a brand new showroom in the adjoining shop.

“Wishing Crafty Betty – Sewing School & Shop all the luck in the world with her new adventures, we will be using this beautiful space to start our own new ventures.

“We will be documenting the move and all the new displays and designs, along with the launch of our new Instagram, which is coming soon. Cannot wait to share the journey with you and the details around the new opening.”
