Emma searches high during June while furniture queries reduce

UK searches of furniture during June were slightly reduced while the topics of garden furniture and dining proved to be the stand out performers.

According to Google search data analysed by Big Furniture Group, one day during June 2023 saw ‘furniture’ searches record an index score of 90 or more, while a score over 80 came in at three days. The first weekend of the month saw the highest number of searches, with Sunday 4th June scoring 100.

Google index’s its search data to 100. This means where 100 is the maximum search interest for the term selected, it is the highest value and indicates a high internet search.

The results saw related searches of garden furniture a popular search, with ‘garden furniture’ up by 40%, while the term ‘primrose garden furniture’ was up 250%. B&M, B&Q, Robert Dyas, Furniture Village, IKEA, Dunelm, John Lewis, Oak Furnitureland and The Range were popular brands searched. As for product related searches, ‘rattan’, ‘dining room’, ‘bedroom furniture’ and ‘table’ were the most searched.

Other search terms Big Furniture Group reviewed included mattresses, bedroom furniture, dining furniture, living room furniture, sofas, soft furnishings and flooring.


Mattress searches recorded eight peak dates with an index score value of 90 or more. The highest searched date was 25th June with a full score of 100. Related brand searches saw Emma Sleep and Tempur UK top the list, while the terms ’emma premium mattress review’ and ‘hovag mattress ikea’ were high performing searches. The term ‘bed with mattress set’ saw a rise in search queries by 120%, followed by ‘cooling mattress, up 110%. ‘Cooling mattress topper’ also performed well, up 90%.

Bedroom furniture

Bedroom furniture searches recorded five days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The highest searched date was 28th June with a full score of 100. Popular brand searches included IKEA and B&Q. As for related queries, ‘bespoke bedroom furniture’ was the stand out performer, along with ‘bedroom furniture sets UK’ and ‘sofa bed’ searches.

Dining furniture

Dining furniture searches recorded one day of peak activity with an index value over 90. The most searched day was the 4th June, which scored a full 100. Popular brand searches included Barker and Stonehouse, Wayfair, Furniture123, IKEA, The Cotswold Company and Dunelm. The term ‘outdoor table’ saw a rise in searches, while the colour ‘beige’ also showed strong searches.

Living room furniture

Living room furniture saw one peak day during the month. The most searched day was 25th June that scored the full 100 score. Popular related searches included IKEA and DFS, while the terms ‘accent & end tables’ and ‘living room design’ were strong.


Sofa searches saw two peak dates, with the highest score of 100 recorded on 4th June. Popular related searches included ‘4 seater sofa bed’, ‘love seat sofa’ and ‘beige corner sofa’. As for brands, Swyft saw an increase in searches by 110%, while La-Z-Boy searches rose 200%. Other brands ranking high included Swoon, Duresta, Habitat, Loaf and DFS.

Soft Furnishings

Soft furnishings searches produced one peak day, with the highest on 9th June, scoring the full 100. The stand out related search term within this category was ‘cushion’.

Flooring & Carpets

Flooring searches saw six days scoring over 90, with the highest date being 26th June scoring the full 100. Carpet searches saw 17 days scoring over 90, with the highest date the 26th June, scoring the full 100.

Popular brands included Wren Kitchens, B&Q, Victoria, Howdens and Likewise. A popular search term, with an increase of 100%, was ‘stretch carpet’.
