Danish furniture retailer eyes up larger Swadlincote store

Danish furniture retailer JYSK has revealed plans to relocate its Swadlincote store but remain at the same retail park.

The retailer has submitted a planning application to South Derbyshire District Council for permission to change the use of a mezzanine floor above in the unit from storage to allow it to create more retail space.

This will see JYSK move from its current unit at The Pipeworks Retail Park to the former Argos site, which is just a few units away.

Detailed in the plans, JYSK says the relocation to the larger premises follows “positive trading within Swadlincote”, and that it will create around 10 new jobs.

JYSK has been situated at its current store in The Pipeworks since 2016. The council is reviewing the application with a decision expected to be announced in the next few months.
