Customer experience investment helps maintain growth at independent

Independent furniture retailer Cookes has reported another growth in sales as turnover surpassed £10m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 March 2023, total sales rose 9.1% to £10.7m from £9.8m in 2022, adding to its growth of 48.4% from £6.6m in 2021.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £661,000, significantly improving from £104,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “Recent investment in the flagship Birmingham showroom has improved the customer experience and allowed us to develop a new larger and more prominent showroom space for long standing retail partner Hammonds Furniture.

“A long-term investment strategy in our showrooms, product offer and teams, continues to develop the exceptional retail experience Cookes strive to deliver. Cookes continues to put its customers first at the heart of its ongoing strategies.

“We have seen good sales in the first quarter of the current year and continue to maintain a strong order book, whilst investing in a broad product range to further improve the Cookes customer shopping experience.”
