Creditors of 35 furnishing businesses owed over £10m

In the latest Insolvency Digest, creditors of 35 furnishing businesses entering liquidation or administration are expected to suffer a combined shortfall of £10.6m.

Dominik Thiel-Czerwinke and Wayne MacPherson, both of Begbies Traynor (Central) LLP, were appointed as joint liquidators of manufacturer Turners and Moore Ltd on 21 March 2024. The business owed preferential creditor, the HMRC, £21,000, while unsecured creditor claims totalled £243,000, with £158,000 owed to banks and financial firms. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £252,000.

Andrew Cordon and James Everist, both of CFS Restructuring LLP, were appointed as joint liquidators of furniture manufacturer Eco Benchmade Upholstery Ltd on 15 March 2024. The business owed preferential creditor employee claims £35,000, while the HMRC is also owed £153,000. As for unsecured creditor claims, these totalled £103,000, with a further £78,000 owed to employees. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £248,000.

David Kirk and Daniel Jeeves, both of Kirks, were appointed as joint liquidators of furniture manufacturer AMF Limited on 10 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor employee claims £5,000, while the HMRC is also owed £145,000. As for unsecured creditor claims, these totalled £800,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £945,000.

Christopher Knott and Martin Maloney, both of Leonard Curtis, were appointed as joint liquidators of furniture manufacturer Crafty Creations MCR Ltd on 8 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor, the HMRC, £84,000, while unsecured creditor claims totalled £39,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £116,000.

Katie Mason, of KPM Business Recovery & Insolvency Limited, was appointed as liquidator of bespoke furniture retailer Graeme Scott Furniture Limited on 8 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor, the HMRC, £5,000, while unsecured creditor claims totalled £167,000, with over £120,000 owed to employees and a director’s loan. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £153,000.

Christopher Wood and Steven Hodgson, both of Clough Corporate Solutions Limited, were appointed as joint liquidators of office furniture wholesaler Thomas Dick (York) Limited on 4 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor employee claims over £1,000, while the HMRC is also owed £1,000. As for unsecured creditor claims, these totalled £122,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £127,000.

Philip Booth, of Booth & Co, was appointed as liquidator of home furnishings manufacturer Bespoke Home Furnishings Ltd on 11 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor employee claims over £6,000, while the HMRC is also owed £22,000. As for unsecured creditor claims, these totalled £25,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £50,000.

J N Bleazard, of XL Business Solutions, was appointed as liquidator of school furniture manufacturer GMFL Limited on 20 March 2024. The business owed preferential creditor, the HMRC, £115,000, while unsecured creditor claims totalled £38,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £129,000.

Jason Elliott and Craig Johns, of Cowgills Limited, were appointed as joint liquidators of soft furnishings wholesaler Sati Textile Mills Ltd on 11 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor, the HMRC, £810,000, while unsecured creditor claims totalled £604,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £1.4m.

Michelle Breslin and Ian Rose, both of FA Simms & Partners Limited, were appointed as joint liquidators of furniture and beds retailer The Sleepstation Limited, trading as The Sleep Station & The Bed Station, on 18 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor, the HMRC, £6,000, while unsecured creditor claims totalled £294,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £317,000.

Frazer Ulrick, of Westgates Restructuring Limited, was appointed as liquidator of furniture retailer Intune Kitchens Limited on 15 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor, the HMRC, £1,600, while unsecured creditor claims totalled £58,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £56,000.

Gareth Stones, of Stones & Co Insolvency Practitioners Limited, was appointed as liquidator of bespoke furniture manufacturer Redwood Joinery (Swansea) Limited on 11 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor employee claims over £13,000, while the HMRC is also owed £12,000. As for unsecured creditor claims, these totalled £171,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £177,000.

Natalie Hughes, of Simply Corporate Limited, was appointed as liquidator of furnishings business K Terry & Son Ltd on 12 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor, the HMRC, £46,000, while unsecured creditor claims totalled £319,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £361,000.

Richard Hunt, of SFP Restructuring Limited, was appointed as liquidator of carpet retailer Carpet Supplies Limited on 11 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor, the HMRC, £8,800, while unsecured creditor claims totalled £117,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £126,000.

John Carpenter and Christopher Barrett, both of Dow Schofield Watts Business Recovery LLP, were appointed as joint liquidators of beds retailer Kendal Bed Centre Limited on 26 March 2024. The business owed preferential creditor employee claims over £1,000, while the HMRC is also owed £18,000. As for unsecured creditor claims, these totalled £141,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £160,000.

Darren Brookes, of Milner Boardman & Partners, was appointed as liquidator of furniture retailer H F Contract Furniture Limited on 16 February 2024. The business owed preferential creditor employee claims over £7,600, while the HMRC is also owed £189,000. As for unsecured creditor claims, these totalled £690,000, with a further £140,000 owed to employees. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £886,000.

Michelle Williams, of Bailams & Co, was appointed as liquidator of furniture manufacturer K. And E. Upholstery Limited on 17 April 2024. The business owed unsecured creditor claims a total of £392,000, with £297,000 owed as an associated loan to AMB Catering For Leisure Limited. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £385,000.

Steven Edwards and Vincent Green, both of Crowe U.K. LLP, were appointed as joint liquidators of kitchen furniture manufacturer Dexter Stevens Kitchens & Interiors Limited, trading as Kutchenhaus Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks, on 19 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor employee claims over £4,000, while the HMRC is also owed £30,000. Neil Money, of CBA Business Solutions, was appointed as liquidator of furniture retailer Oxford Furniture Company Ltd on 1 May 2024. The business owed unsecured creditor claims a total of £209,000, with £75,000 owed to banks. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of the full amount.

Matthew Hoy and Shane Biddlecombe, both of TruSolv Ltd, were appointed as joint liquidators of office furniture wholesaler Office Furniture and Interiors Limited on 29 April 2024. The business owed preferential creditor employee claims over £1,000, while the HMRC is also owed £72,000. As for unsecured creditor claims, these totalled £237,000, with a further £42,000 owed to the HMRC and over £50,000 owed to Barclays Bank. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £304,000.

Steven Currie, of Currie Young Limited, was appointed as administrator of online furniture retailer Display Cabinets UK Ltd on 18 March 2024. The HMRC is owed £400,000, while unsecured creditor claims totalled £85,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £422,000.

Grace Jones and David Perkins, both of Parker Andrews Limited, were appointed as joint liquidators of manufacturer and fitter of curtains, blinds, tracks and poles, upholstery business CMD Interiors Limited on 1 May 2024. The business owed preferential creditor employee claims over £7,000, while the HMRC is also owed £10,000. As for unsecured creditor claims, these totalled £101,000, with a further £73,000 owed to employees. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £107,000.

Natalie Hughes, of Simply Corporate Limited, was appointed as liquidator of furniture retailer Southey Interiors Limited, trading as William Rogers Design, on 8 May 2024. The business owed preferential creditor, the HMRC, £22,000, while unsecured creditor claims totalled £427,000 and included consumer claims valuing £80,000. It is expected that creditors will suffer a shortfall of £447,000.
