Carpet retailer grows sales to almost £140m

Carpet and flooring retailer Tapi Carpets has reported a growth in sales as turnover reached almost £140m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 25 December 2021, total sales rose 38% to £137.4m from £99.8m in 2020.

Gross profit increased from £59.3m to £88.3m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £5.4m, up from a loss of £5.2m recorded the previous year.

Stated in its report, Tapi said it has made ‘pleasing progress’ with new store acquisitions supporting revenue growth, while continued development in its product range, digital offering for customers and customer service all contributed to its growth throughout the year.

This momentum has carried over into the first half of 2022 with positive sales so far, although growth has slowed in Q2 due to the impact of inflation and uncertainty over household bills and fuel costs.
