Carpet maker posts strong UK sales

Carpet manufacturer Cavalier has reported a growth in UK sales and profit despite exports declining.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 December 2022, total sales fell 2.3% to £25.8m from £26.4m in 2021.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £1.5m, up from £991,000 recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said UK sales increased to £25.7m from £23.8m, while overseas sales declined from £2.5m from £28,000.

Cavalier added that it saw strong demand in the first half of 2022, but this tailed off following the onset of the Ukraine conflict, increased energy costs and rising inflation.

“The directors recognise that the market will continue to contract in 2023 due ongoing cost of living crisis, but remain optimistic that the company strategy of investing in the business will generate future growth,” the company said.
