Bed maker issues product recall on travel pillow over fire risk

Bed manufacturer Tempur has issued a product recall on a travel pillow after discovering a potential fire risk.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards issued the recall for the Tempur comfort travel pillow due to identifying that a small number of products were supplied in the UK which have not been tested against the relevant standards.

“Products intended for the UK market require testing against EN/ISO 12952 and BS 5852:1982. There is therefore a risk that if the pillow is exposed to an open flame that it will catch fire,” the statement said.

The product, which originates from Denmark, has been recalled from end users with a ‘low risk level’.

Tempur added in its own notice: “It has come to our attention that eight Tempur Comfort Travel Pillows that did not meet the UK Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 (amended 1989, 1993 and 2010) were sold through our Tempur Store, Designer Outlet, Kemble Drive, Swindon, between 24th November and 22nd December 2022.

“Tempur UK Ltd is working with UK consumer safety regulators and has issued a recall notice for the incorrectly sold products.”
