EU exports drive growth at office furniture manufacturer

Specialist office furniture manufacturer SBFI has reported a growth in sales and profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 November 2021, total sales rose 10% to £10.1m from £9.2m in 2020.

Gross profit increased from £3.9m to £4.3m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £1.3m, up 30% from £1m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said sales growth was mainly due to increased export activity as revenues in Europe jumped 474% to £2m from £348,000, while outside the EU saw sales of £5m, slightly down from £6.3m on last year. UK sales rose 20% to £3m from £2.5m.

The company continued to invest in the design and development of its products and desking technologies, with the group recently being awarded FIRA International ‘Ergonomics Excellence’ recognition.

“We are immensely proud that FIRA has recognised our team’s high-quality work. Our signature Aspect range and family of products has proven to meet the demands of the modern workplace, driving innovation across countless industries, and improving our client’s working practices,” SBFI said.

“Created inhouse by our expert team, our designs have met multiple standards including the ergonomic design of control centres and workstations (BS EN 11064: 2013), fully height adjustable and selectable desking standards (BS EN 527 TYPE A and B) and the requirements for office work with visual display terminals (BS EN ISO 9241).

“As we create fresh solutions for our clients’ needs, we are delighted that our continued work in creating accessible and inclusive designs (BS 8300-2: 2018) has shown how we have grown as an organisation, continuing to improve and strive forward.”
