Sofa business outlines next location with planning application

British bespoke furniture and fabric company, Sofas & Stuff, has revealed plans to open a new store in Richmond.

According to a planning application submitted to Richmond Council, the business intends to take over the former Bimba Y Lola site on Hill Street.

The application, submitted by ID Planning on behalf of Sofas & Stuff, proposes the installation of one non-illuminated double-sided projecting sign facing Hill Street, two fascia signs featuring the brand’s name in halo-illuminated letters, and a corner fascia sign with a halo-illuminated satin silver feather logo.

A statement detailed in the plans said: “The proposed works involve the permanent installation of signage in connection with the opening of a ‘Sofas & Stuff’ furniture store.

“Sofas & Stuff is a growing national furniture retailer offering handmade bespoke sofas, chairs, beds and mattresses.

“The signage is in-keeping with the Sofas & Stuff brand identity, while the locations, scale, materiality and illumination of the signs are directly informed by the character of surrounding signage within the Conservation Area.”

Sofas & Stuff, which currently operates 24 showrooms across the UK, last opened a new space back in November 2024 when it launched its debut Somerset showroom on High Street in Bruton.
