Independent furniture business Wrexham Furniture Centre has announced its closure as the company focuses on its fast-growing sofa brand.

The Wrexham Furniture Centre traded for the last time at its Rhostyllen premises on Saturday 21 June 2025, bringing an end to three years of service at the location.

The closure is due to the owner pursuing growth in its upholstery division, The Sofa Outlet Wrexham, which is based at Bryn Business Centre on Bryn Lane and has been trading since 2023.

Since its launch, the sofa outlet business has continued to grow, prompting the expansion of the brand.

The company will open The Sofa Outlet Chester on 28 June, which will be situated in Saltney, Chester, as well as revealing further stores could be in the pipeline across the region.

A statement said: “It’s a bittersweet moment as we are sad to see our first store close as it’s where it all started for us, but since opening the Sofa Outlet Wrexham, and then more recently the Sofa Outlet Chester which is about to open, we feel we need to put all our efforts into our Sofa Outlet brand / stores, with more sofa outlets opening in the near future in different areas.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to all our customers over the years, and hopefully we will see you down at the Sofa Outlet when you’re ready for a new sofa. All warranties on sofa’s & furniture purchased at Wrexham Furniture Centre will be carried over to the sofa outlet as it’s the same owner & all the same staff.

“Our Sofa Outlet Chester store grand opening is Saturday 28 June. To celebrate the new store opening we will be having a 10% off sale on every single sofa. This offer is available in both our Wrexham & Chester store from the 28 June and ends Sunday 6 July.”
