Homeware sales maintained positive on the high street for a fifth straight week.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 3.24% for the week ending 13 April 2025.
Homewares total LFLs rose by +5.68% from a base of +4.83% for the same week in 2024, indicating the category’s twelfth positive result since 2025 commenced.
Store homewares sales increased by +0.06% from a base of +2.96% for the same week last year, marking the tenth positive outcome for the category since 2025 started.
Total store LFL sales were flat this week, seeing a slight increase of +0.02% from a strong base of +5.80% for the same week last year. Total non-store LFL sales soared by +16.38% from a base of +9.86% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Non-store sales were chiefly responsible for the boost in total LFL sales for this week, as total in-store sales saw a meagre growth outcome.
“This week enjoyed glorious weather typified by warm spring sunshine with temperature levels rising above 20°C in some parts of the UK.
“The weather was similar during the same week last with sunny spells and temperatures reaching 20°C.”
Overall footfall climbed by +5.2% this week as results improved across all individual footfall categories, with retail parks leading with +6.9%, followed by high streets with +5.4% and then shopping centres with +3.3%.
