Homeware sales delivered growth on the high street for a second straight week.
According to the latest BDO High Street Sales Tracker, total like-for-like (LFL) sales rose 1.47% for the week ending 13 July 2025.
Homewares total LFLs jumped by +7.77% from a strong base of +6.26% for the same week in 2024, representing the category’s second positive result.
Store homewares sales slipped by -5.18% from a good base of +4.83% for the same week last year, marking the category’s second consecutive negative outcome, while non-store sales declined for a fourth straight week, dropping by -0.91% from a solid base of +8.58% for the same week in 2024
Total store LFL sales fell by -1.68% from a base of +1.41% for the same week in 2024. Total non-store LFL sales jumped by +14.06% from a strong base of +6.73% for the same week last year.
Commenting on the results, BDO said: “Total non-store sales sustained a second consecutive week of double-digit growth as lifestyle and fashion enjoyed healthy online sales, marking the former’s highest growth outcome since the final week of March and the latter’s eighth straight positive result.
“In-store total LFL sales slipped into negative territory for the third time in the past four weeks, but growth figures for store fashion remained positive, although flat.
“This week opened with cool and mild conditions, but it quickly shifted into an intense and widespread heatwave.
“In contrast, the same week in the previous year was characterized by cooler temperatures and heavy showers.”
Overall footfall grew by +2.3% compared to the same week last year. Retail parks saw the highest increase in foot traffic this week (+3.0%), followed by high streets (+2.7%). Shopping centers experienced the lowest growth this week, growing by +1.0%.
