Gillies acquires Grampian Furnishers

Independent retailer Gillies of Broughty Ferry has announced the acquisition of fellow independent Grampian Furnishers.

Effective from 1 June, Gillies will be taking over the long-established business of Grampian Furnishings, which trades from a 30,000sq ft purpose-build showroom on Linkwood Place, Elgin.

In the announcement, Gillies said that all staff will remain with the company and the team at Gillies ‘look forward to working with our new Elgin colleagues, and supporting them in Furnishing Family Homes throughout the North of Scotland’.

The statement said: “Over the course of the next few months, we look forward to learning about the business, and to meeting their loyal customers! We also look forward to providing upgrades to the store, and to introducing exciting new product lines and additional styles of furnishings which are popular in our existing showrooms.

“An early enhancement will be the installation of the Gillies IT network, where all stock can be accessed and is particularly useful for quicker-delivery products that we will be available for Grampian Furnishers’ shoppers.

“We’d like to thank the Clark family, who founded Grampian Furnishers in 1975, for running such a successful business, which the Gillies family look forward to taking in to the next chapter.

“Business will continue as usual at Grampian Furnishers and we are delighted to welcome their staff and customers as we continue to provide excellent service, innovation and value for money.”
