UK searches of furniture during April were concentrated on garden furniture for a third straight month, while sofas also stood out within the sub-categories.
According to Google search data analysed by Big Furniture Group, three days during April 2025 saw ‘furniture’ searches record an index score of 90 or more, while a score over 80 came in at seven days. The highest searched date was 6 April with a full score 100.
Google index’s its search data to 100. This means where 100 is the maximum search interest for the term selected, it is the highest value and indicates a high internet search.
The results saw related searches of specific brand terms that included ‘Rattan Garden Furniture’, up 200%, ‘aldi garden furniture 2025’, up 800%, and ‘asda outdoor furniture’, up 200%. Other popular terms included ‘sunlounger’, up 80%, ‘outdoor sofa’, up 50%, ‘egg chair’, up 40%, ‘cushions for outdoor furniture’, up 70%, and ‘habitat garden furniture’, up 70%. There were also other ‘garden furniture’ related searches from companies such as Tesco, B&M, B&Q, Lidl, Wilko and Wickes.
Other search terms Big Furniture Group reviewed included mattresses, bedroom furniture, dining furniture, living room furniture, sofas, carpets and flooring.
Mattresses
Mattress searches recorded four peak dates with an index score value of 90 or more. The highest searched date was 21 April with a full score of 100. Related brand searches saw Bensons for Beds, up 40%, Mattress Online, also up 40%, Dormeo, DFS, Dusk, Emma, eve and Harrison Spinks all perform strongly. The terms ‘small double bed frame’, ‘mattress sizes’, ‘zip and link mattresses’, ‘why are mattresses so expensive’, ‘are foam mattresses good’ and ‘what mattresses do hotels use’ were all high breakout searches. Meanwhile, ‘can you put mattresses in a skip’ searches increased 4,500%, and ‘bunk bed with mattresses included’ searches rose 4,150%.
Bedroom furniture
Bedroom furniture searches recorded four days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The highest searched date was 5 April with a full score of 100. Popular brand searches included Barker and Stonehouse, DFS, JYSK, Bensons for Beds, Wren, Next, Dunelm and Dreams. The terms ‘childrens bedroom furniture sets uk’, ‘space saving bedroom furniture’, ‘sliding door wardrobe’ and ‘baby bedroom furniture set’ were all breakout searches, while ‘bamboo bedroom furniture’ searches rose 4,450%. Other popular searches included ‘full bedroom furniture sets’ – up 3,900%, and ‘4 piece bedroom furniture sets uk’ – up 2,050%.
Dining furniture
Dining furniture searches recorded two days of peak activity with an index value over 90. The most searched date was 6 April, which scored a full 100. Popular brand searches included The Cotswold Company, Next, B&M, Heal’s, Laura James, Barker and Stonehouse, White Stores, Roseland and JYSK. The terms ‘patio dining sets’, ‘aldi garden furniture’, ‘drop leaf dining table’, ‘oak dining table and 6 chairs’, ’10 seater dining table’, ‘jysk garden furniture’, ‘egg chair, and ‘chaise lounger’ were all high breakout searches.
Living room furniture
Living room furniture saw four peak days during the month. The most searched day was 21 April that scored the full 100 score. Popular brand related searches included Wayfair, The Cotswold Company, Dusk, IKEA, Dunelm, DFS, ScS and Argos. The terms ‘matching living room furniture’, ‘walnut living room furniture’, ‘corner sofa’, ‘living room inspiration’, ‘floor lamps for living room’, and ‘retro living room furniture’ were all breakout searches. ‘rattan furniture’ searches rose 400%, ‘garden furniture’ increased 200%, and ‘argos living room furniture’ searches rose 40%.
Sofas
Sofa searches saw six peak dates, with the highest score of 100 recorded on 21 April. Popular related brand searches included Furniture123, Sofology, Sofas & Stuff, Heal’s, Wayfair, Swoon, Barker and Stonehouse, KC Sofas, DFS, La-Z-Boy, ScS and IKEA. Search terms included ‘leather sofa’, up 250%, ‘aldi rattan corner sofa’, up 450% and ‘rattan corner sofa’, up by 90%. Other terms included ‘garden sofa cushions’, up 80%, ‘rattan sofa’, up 80%, ‘clic clac sofa bed’, up 70% and ‘2 seater corner sofa’, up 50%. Furthermore, ‘kc sofas castleford’ saw searches rise 2,900%, while searches of ‘buy now pay later sofas’ increased 1,350%. Searches of ‘french connection sofas’ rose 250%, ‘lazyboy sofas’ rose 200% and ‘chaise lounge sofa’ increased 120%. As for a high breakout search, the term ‘high back sofas uk’ performed strongly.
Flooring & Carpets
Flooring searches saw seven days scoring over 90, with the highest date being 19 April, scoring the full 100. Carpet searches saw eight days scoring over 90, with the highest date on 21 April scoring the full 100. Popular brand searches included Forbo, Topps Tiles, Flooring Hut, B&M, DWF Flooring, Wickes, Dunelm, United Carpets & Beds, Tapi Carpets and Calverts. Popular search terms included ‘outdoor flooring’, up 70%, ‘laminate vs vinyl flooring’, up 110%, ‘non slip vinyl flooring’, up 300%, and ‘west derby carpets’, up 5,000%.
