Garden and home retailer to open ninth store

Family-owned garden and home retailer Charlies Stores has announced plans to open a new store in Cheltenham.

Situated on Tewkesbury Road, the store will be transformed into a one-stop shop offering a range of home, garden, leisure, and outdoor living products, and will takeover a former Homebase site.

The new store will open in October this year and will become the business’ ninth location.

Commenting on the plans, the company said: “We’ve got some very exciting news to share – Charlies is officially coming to Cheltenham! That’s right, our 9th store is opening this October 2025, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining the wonderful community in the heart of Gloucestershire.

“Our brand-new home will be located in the former Homebase store on Tewkesbury Road, which is soon to be transformed into a one-stop shop packed full of everything you need for home, garden, leisure, and outdoor living.”

In its most recent filed accounts, the company recorded revenues of £62.2m, with a pre-tax profit of £1.7m for the period ended 31 July 2024.
