High-end fashion and home furnishings department store Liberty has reported a growth in sales as turnover surpassed £80m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 29 January 2022, total sales rose 37.5% to £82m from £59.6m in 2021.

Gross profit increased from £23.2m to £42.4m, while year-end profit resulted at £3.8m, up from £1.4m recorded in the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said its flagship store sales jumped by £20m to £37.3m from £17.2m as lockdown restrictions eased. Online sales continued to perform strongly, up 5.7% to £40.7m from £38.5m.

During the period its two year store renovation was completed, enhancing its store appearance with works on windows, rendered panels, wood features and glass atriums, while ensuring that works were in keeping with its heritage and listed building protection.
