National Golf Day raises £6,000 for industry charity

Furniture industry colleagues from around the UK flocked to Northamptonshire in October to tee off at the National Golf Day, The Furniture Makers’ Company’s longest running charity event, helping raise £6,000.

Almost 80 golfers took part in the tournament at the Northamptonshire County Golf Club – ranked in the UK’s top 100 courses – on Wednesday 19 October, making it one of the best attended National Golf Days in recent years.

The day started with breakfast which was followed by an 18-hole Stableford competition with a shotgun start. After a great day of play, competitors sat down to a two-course lunch, with the day culminating with a prize giving ceremony, charity auction and raffle. The winners of the competition were:

  • Team winner Jay-Be (pictured)
  • Team runner up AIS
  • Individual winner Tony Harvey (Castelan)
  • Runner up Paul Mott (KI)
  • Nearest the Pin Max Wood-Ives (Hypnos)
  • Nearest the Pin Rob Sawyer (Castelan)
  • Nearest the Pin Paul Newell (Maguire Advisers Ltd)
  • Longest Drive Clayton Gore (Savoir Beds)

The Furniture Makers’ Company is very grateful for the companies and individuals that sponsored the event: Biesse UK, FIRA, Graham Marley, Häfele, Hypnos, KI, Maguire Advisers, NEJ Stevenson, Ocee Design and Savoir Beds.

Tony Attard OBE DL, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, said: “I would like to say a wholehearted thank you to the golfers and our generous sponsors who helped make this event a great success. We are delighted that just over £6,000 has been raised for the charity.”
