Comparable sales down at Loaf; continues to invest

Furniture retailer Loaf has reported sales of over £60m in its latest set of results.

According to its filed accounts for the 12-month period ended 31 December 2024, total sales stood at £66.4m. Revenues for the prior nine-month period reached £59.8m.

Underlying EBITDA resulted at £4.4m, while pre-tax profit was £2.1m for the period. For the previous nine-month period, underlying EBITDA and pre-tax profit came in at £7.5m and £5m respectively.

Stated within its report, Loaf said: “The sector and the company faced significant headwinds during the year as cautious consumer spending drove further softening of the furniture market.

“As such, sales orders for the comparable period decreased by 12% to £69 million. Nevertheless, the company continued to invest for the long term in the business, product range and channels.

“Since the end of the financial year, the furniture market has continued to be highly promotional in response to lower consumer demand. The company’s sales are up on the year, albeit at reduced margins, and the directors expect the trading environment to continue to be challenging.

“The directors remain fully committed to delivering the best possible customer experience through excellence in products and service, and are confident in the strength and resilience of the business.”
