Independent furniture retailer Stokers has reported a decline in turnover as sales dipped below £60m.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 April 2025, total sales fell 2.6% to £59.4m from £61m in 2024.
Pre-tax profit resulted at £4.5m, down from £5.2m recorded against the previous year.
Stated within its report, the company said: “In what is a very challenging retail market, the company continues to maintain a very strong balance sheet with net assets of over £21m (2024: £20m). Cash remains steady at £2.1m (2024: £2.5m) and the company can call upon over £14m of cash from the parent company at any point.
“For this reason, the directors are confident that the company can maintain its expansion plans and at the same time weather any storms the UK economy may endure.”
