Outdoor furniture supplier Bramblecrest has reported a decline in sales and profit.
According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 November 2024, total sales fell 6.7% to £24.8m from £26.6m in 2023.
Pre-tax profit resulted at £3.5m, down from £6.5m against the prior year.
Stated within its report, BDP Imports, which trades as Bramblecrest, said: “Following a period of high demand driven by the Covid pandemic and then a period of excess stock levels, order volumes have consolidated showing steady growth overall compared to pre pandemic.
“Whilst 2024 saw lower orders for the financial year with challenges relating to poor weather and delays in shipping, the order book is looking stronger for the year ahead.
“High freight rates due to the closure of the Suez Canal was a key driver of the drop in margins. In March 2023 BDP Imports became employee owned with the founders selling 80% of the company to the employees via a Trust. This has enabled the company to preserve its long-established culture, reward employees and ensure its long-term stability.”
