Sales remain strong at family furniture business despite dip

Family-run furniture store Andersons of Inverurie has reported a slight decline in sales.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 31 October 2024, total sales fell 4.4% to £10.8m from £11.3m in 2023.

Pre-tax profit resulted at £693,000, down from £1.1m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said: “The trading results reflect an expected decrease in activity levels as economic conditions puts pressure on household incomes and has led to a decrease in spending across the retail sector as a whole.

“Gross profit margin levels have been maintained and the Directors are satisfied that this has been a good year given the market conditions it is operating in.

“The Company and wider Group remain in a strong financial position and as such the directors remain confident that the business can successfully manage against periods of low demand.”
