Online home and lifestyle brand delivers return to profit

Home and lifestyle ecommerce retailer Domu Brands has reported ‘stable’ sales but a return to profit.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 30 September 2024, total sales fell to £44.4m from £55.5m in 2023, which reflected a shorter accounting period and exit from the USA Market.

UK sales represented £42.8m, down from £53.4m, while EU revenues fell from £2m to £1.2m.

EBITDA resulted at £3.2m, improving from a loss of £984,000, with pre-tax profit amounted to £2.5m, improving from a loss of £1.9m.

The company, owner of home accessories, DIY and furniture brand VonHaus, said: “FY24 was a positive year for DOMU Brands, with the business returning to profit and achieving an EBITDA of £3.2m.

“The macro-economic environment continued to be uncertain, however through greater control and focus on our operational performance we were able to adapt and maintain strong results.

“YOY revenue remained stable at £44m, when factoring in the longer accounting period for FY23. However, this is now much higher quality revenue when compared to previous years. As we move in to FY25 and beyond we are planning controlled and consistent YOY revenue growth of this quality revenue.

“There continues to be cost pressures within the business, including those caused by government policy and more general inflationary pressured.

“However, we still aim to grow our bottom line faster than we grow the top line, through greater focus on efficiency and productivity. The future is looking very positive for DOMU Brands and its fantastic team.”
