Fashion and home furnishings retailers TK Maxx and Homesense has issued a product recall on bookends due to health risks.

The Yellow Orpiment Mineral Bookends contains a mineral which may cause skin irritation and is toxic if ingested or inhaled. Around 40 pieces, which were made in China, were sold to customers in the UK & ROI.

A statement said: “We are recalling the above product due to a potential safety issue. The safety of our customers is very important to us and we are taking this action as a precaution.

“The product was on sale in TK Maxx and Homesense stores between June and October 2022. The product code shown on the price sticker and your receipt will be 120556. No other mineral bookends are affected by this recall.

“If you purchased the product, please stop using it immediately and return to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund. Please use protective gloves when handling the product and keep the product in a sealed package for return.”
