The Designer Rooms – Head of Bed Department

We are a family-run, premier furniture retailer with 10 stores across Scotland’s central belt. Our company was founded 12 years ago, and we specialise in selling high-end, luxury furniture, garden furniture, and home accessories. We are expanding and are looking for a Senior Manager to join us as Head of Beds at our new Sleepcentre.

Job Overview:

As the Head of Beds/Sleepcentre at Designer Rooms, you will be at the forefront of our bedding and sleep solutions department. Your role will encompass a range of responsibilities from staff training to supplier negotiations, with the creation of this new position aimed at ensuring our bedding department remains a market leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Staff Product Training: Equip our sales team with in-depth product knowledge and sales techniques specific to our bedding range.
  • Product Selection/Range Planning: Curate and maintain a diverse and high-quality bedding product line that aligns with market trends and customer preferences.
  • Supplier Relations and Negotiations: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms that benefit both parties and ensure a competitive edge.
  • Internal and External Marketing: Collaborate with the marketing department to develop and implement strategies that effectively promote our bedding range.
  • Recruitment of Sales Staff: Oversee the hiring process for the sales team, ensuring candidates meet the high standards required to represent Designer Rooms.
  • Setting and Meeting KPIs: Develop and track key performance indicators for the bedding department, focusing on sales growth, customer satisfaction, and team performance.


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the beds/bedding industry.
  • Proven track record of effective team management and leadership.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in market analysis and range planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
