Sales remain strong at furniture and décor retailer

Liverpool-based home furniture and décor interior design retailer Taskers has reported consistent sales with turnover remaining close to £17m.

According to its latest filed accounts for the year ended 28 February 2022, total sales rose slightly by 0.5% to £16.8m from £16.7m in 2021.

Gross profit increased from £7.2m to £7.3m, while pre-tax profit resulted at £386,000, down from £1.4m recorded the previous year.

Stated within its report, the company said it implemented a strategy of early bulk purchasing of garden season stock to avoid stock shortages during the season, which resulted in significantly higher levels of inventory at the end of the period. Margin increased slightly to 43.9% from 43.6%.

During the year, the business also invested in a new financial system and took the opportunity to write down a significant amount of fixed assets resulting in an increased charge of c£50k.
