Bentley Designs – Area Sales Manager for Ireland & Scotland

  • To manage, develop and grow the Company’s independent business in the designated geographic area
  • To always represent the company in a professional and correct manner, providing the highest level of service to our customers
  • To ensure that the business product returns are kept under control and that the outcome of service is a ‘win win’ for the business and the customer
  • To provide feedback on competitors activities in the marketplace
  • To provide assistance as directed with the Company’s multiple businesses
  • To contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the business in all areas
  • To nurture and manage relationships with key customers through range availability and distribution
  • To develop and grow contract opportunities with contract furnishers in the Private Rental Market and other relevant commercial opportunities



  • Keep Director informed of anything that may affect the business and aid decision making
  • Complete weekly reports giving feedback on customer and product performance, competitor activities and general marketplace information
  • Liaise with your Customer Services Account handler and ensure that the Customer Services Manager is kept in the loop
  • Carry out any other reporting requirements as requested in a timely manner
  • Actively participate in the annual Sales Conference and any other meetings at Head Office as required


  • Gain detailed knowledge and understanding of all new ranges
  • Learn how unassembled product fits together i.e., Wardrobes, tables etc.
  • Promote and sell BD products to existing and new customers
  • Promote and encourage customers to utilise website and be aware of all website functions including order placing, tracking and downloadable services, images attributes etc
  • Organise in house training for new ranges
  • Win new floor displays, ensuring accurate information is passed to Customer Services regarding required delivery dates
  • Keep accurate records of displays on floors
  • Ensure all customers are kept fully aware of all promotions, including clearance and discontinued lines; referring customers to website offers page


  • Make our customers feel special
  • Visit all customers on a call cycle appropriate to their star rating
  • Manage opening and closing of accounts to achieve profile of customers in line with Company strategy
  • Ensure that 4- & 5-Star accounts are offered any promotions first before rolling out to rest of the customer base
  • Ensure that customer’s receive product training when new ranges go onto their floors
  • Assist Accounts team in collecting outstanding money when requested
  • Assist head office with dealing with multiple accounts in your area


  • To agree annual targets and strive to exceed them
  • Assist Managing Director in identifying target accounts
  • Assess new customers in your area’s suitability to become a stockist in line with Company strategy


  • Work closely with the customer service team to provide a high level of service
  • Ensure that manufacturing issues are photographed & batch numbers obtained so that this information can be sent to the factory
  • To manage returns by negotiating with retailers to sell off products rather than return, monitoring % returns by customer
  • Complete allowance forms providing detail of claim and authorise discount given
  • Refer service for technical visit if appropriate and ensure that the service is followed through
  • Review SOR, SDN and SQU reports to discuss with customers
  • Ensure that we provide our customers with an all-round service


  • To provide support on how to fully utilise the website including the downloading of e- catalogues, images etc. from website, ensuring that customers are able to access all imagery for ranges that they have on their floor
  • Attend trade show exhibitions as required
  • Promote the Head Office showrooms and invite customers to attend
  • Gather competitor product knowledge and benchmark against Bentley product and report if appropriate

SALARY: Salary negotiable depending on experience.
